Hole In Cheek
You can see the impunity, Flow through the holes in his cheeks, Down the Nairobi streets, Into the havoc that floods wreak. Good morning from the CBD. The water's flowing in streams now, Into ditches that ran insanely deep, It all seems like a dream, A nightmare where you can hear the screams, As bodies are torn apart at the seam. We are into the PM, And in the silence you can smell the contempt. In the people's faces you can see the regret, In the kind of monsters they elect. We’ve been here before, Where our potholes were turned into shores, Where an ordinary day was turned into gore, As they laughed and stole from us some more. While the sun shined we made our hay, And in their private choppers they swept it away, What, what more can I say? W-Welcome to Nairobae. Maybe soon the day will come, When by their necks at Archives we’ll have them strung, Maybe when the floodgates finally shut, We will finally live in the glory days in our hearts.
